In Indiana, we face alarming maternal and infant health statistics. In 2022, the state had
a maternal mortality rate of 31.1 per 100,000 live births, making it one of the highest in
the nation. Additionally, Indiana’s infant mortality rate of 7.2 deaths per 1,000 live births
is a significant concern.
To help address these disparities, through funding from Elevance Health and in
partnership with HealthConnect One’s community-based Doula training program,
Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana invites community-based and nonprofit
organizations employing doulas and other free-to-the-community prenatal, birth, and
post-partum services to participate in a trainer certification course facilitated by
HealthConnect One. This program is designed to train doulas from the communities
they serve, providing crucial prenatal, labor, and postnatal support to women, especially
those in underserved populations.
This is a great opportunity for stakeholders from various sectors, including community
leaders, healthcare providers, WIC staff, doulas, and more. We believe your
participation will contribute to this important initiative to improve maternal and infant
health.
We are also offering sponsorship opportunities:
